Recipe: Protein Ice Cream (No Fruit Variation)

If you just can’t bring yourself to down another protein shake and own a high performance blender try this instead.

Difficulty: Easy but can be finicky

Number of Ingredients Needed: 5

Equipment Needed: High performance blender (e.g. Vitamix, Blendtec, Ninja)

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp of any sort of milk (cow, almond, oat etc.) or free yogurt

  • 1-2 scoops of protein powder

  • 1/4 tsp guar gum or xanthum gum powder

  • Pinch salt

  • 2 cups of ice cubes

Directions

  1. Add ingredients in the order listed for best results

  2. Add milk or yogurt to blender container

  3. Add powders and salt

  4. Add ice cubes on top

  5. Blend on highest power, tamping down as necessary until you have achieved a thick, ice cream like consistency and don’t hear ice encountering the blender blades anymore. Add more ice cubes if the blades aren’t catching well.

  6. Scoop into a bowl and eat immediately!

Notes

You may need to scrape the sides at least once to get everything incorporated.

Leftovers won’t freeze well, finish it all!
